Matthew Forrest of Forrest LawAttorney and sustainability consultant Matthew Forrest is an experienced speaker on the topics of sustainability, municipal energy programs and conservation planning. Matthew has served as a panelist and guest speaker for climate workshops at Yale University and Central Connecticut State University and has spoken as a municipal energy subject matter expert on local radio and TV shows. He presented at the Wethersfield Green Summit Committee forums and serves as the facilitator during committee-sponsored events.

As a Wethersfield Town Councilor from 2003-2009, Matthew demonstrated a strong record of legislative advocacy with sustainability initiatives, municipal energy programs and conservation planning.  He was involved with creating the Town’s energy committee; advocating for the conservation of open space; and worked for strong environmental standards for the sewer system and Wethersfield Cove. Matthew is available to speak to your group on sustainability, municipal energy programs, and conservation planning. He will work with you to tailor a presentation to achieve your goals.

Topic: Innovative Sustainability Initiatives for Connecticut Communities: Lessons from Bridgeport, Wethersfield, and New Haven & State Resources to Support Local Efforts

This roundtable panel discussion discussed different approaches to starting effective municipal sustainability initiatives. The panelists provided examples from their own communities along with recommendations for engaging all facets of the community in this process and providing stepping tones for developing a plan to solve these environmental issues.
